Visit with Auntie Patricia

'Living room' side of my new toy.

'Kitchen side' of my new toy.

Me & Auntie building my new toy.
I had a great visit with Auntie Patricia this weekend. We played lots and she made me laugh lots!
For Christmas she gave me an awesome Fisher Price playset. It makes all sorts of sounds & plays music. I love it! It's all in French so Mommy can learn with me, too. Auntie also gave me a new Habs t-shirt; I will wear it every game day!
We spent part of the day yesterday in Banff. It was grey & chilly but we enjoyed walking around the townsite. We had planned to stay for the Santa Claus parade but didn't and returned to Calgary in the afternoon. Calgary was sunny & 10 degrees!! C'est la vie.
It is currently snowing so I'm sure Mom & Dad will get me out in the luge sometime today!

Jingle Cat

We decorated the house on Wednesday and even included kitty in all the fun! She makes me laugh as we try on all three of her Xmas head gear... surprisingly, she sits through it all.

I can do it MYSELF!!

This pear is just right for eatin'!

Gee, who do I look like here?!

And here?!

First Pair of Shoes

Mamie bought me my first pair of shoes last weekend! They all laughed at me when I tried them on at the store as I kept trying to kick them off. They're very different to walk in compared to my Robeez, but they're super-cool & I look pretty darn handsome in them. Probably the only pair of Geox this household will see as Mommy can't afford the $300 boots she fell in love with at the store!

Boys in the Kitchen

Daddy working with tools!

Alex discovers a new play place!
I've been keeping Mom & Dad busy the past couple days teaching them valuable lessons in patience & creativity. Not only have I been getting up at 4:00am, I've also drastically reduced my napping time during the day. So, what have they learned?
sleep deprived baby + teething baby = fussy baby X 100
I've also been a very picky eater the past few days, only wanting to eat what Mom & Dad are eating. Mommy & Daddy's meals are going to have to be more baby friendly! They have also been enjoying my latest vocal skills which includes a loud yell & and something like "uh, uh, uh" when I want something. Mom thinks a prelude to "what's that?, what's that?, what's that?".
My best buddy Josey is currently at the vet hospital being treated for a cut tongue. She was in a fight yesterday with a neighbour's cat who constantly torments her through the front window. We will pick her up today & give her lots of cuddles when she gets home. She isn't the only one on antibiotics, either...
Mom has strep throat! She is so surprised as she has never had it before but now knows what a "real" sore throat feels like. She has found it hard not to kiss me (but she has snuck a couple to the back of my head!) & worries about me getting sick.
Papa is out hiking today with the club. It's been quite awhile since he's breathed mountain air so I expect him to come back refreshed & satiated.
Mamie & Papi are coming to visit this week! I can hardly wait to show them what I can do & how big I'm getting!

Fall Update

Gosh, where has the time gone? We can't believe it is already mid-November! Soon, I will be celebrating my second Christmas. We have had just two snowfalls; the second has mostly melted away. I quite enjoy the outdoors this time of year... besides having to bundle up before going outside, I like the scenery from my stroller on our walks. I usually end up falling asleep in the brisk air!
As usual I've been on the move. I'm not walking yet, but can crawl pretty darn fast & like to cruise whenever I can. I have stood for several seconds on my own & think it's pretty neat. Mom & Dad are definitely in no hurry for me to walk! I love it when Dad or Mom chase me around the couch, I fit perfectly behind it. That's where I often meet pussycat & we share a snuggle. I like to cruise the house with my walker as I'm getting the hang of turning it by myself. But I do still enjoy pulling everything out of the plastic container cupboard... I could sit in the kitchen for a very long time doing that!
Mom & Dad are quite surprised by my healthy, growing boy appetite! I love a variety of foods & am getting use to more textures. For example, for dinner the other night I ate my main course which consisted of beef, carrot, squash and broccoli and then ate half an avocado (which I can now eat by myself), some applesauce and then an entire cereal bar. The result of all this eating? What my Mom affectionately calls my "buddha belly"! She's always rubbing it.

Mom returned to work mid-October with mixed feelings. She enjoys the part-time status & 'adult' time but misses me lots when she's away. Dad is busy as ever, always lots of meetings with two pairings a month. They get about one day off a week together.

Gosh...

Montreal

Aw, Mom!

Daddy's Number One Fan!!

I could do this all day!

Yeah, Mom, you're in my way!

Well, almost a month since my last post but Ive been busy, busy, busy... just as a one year old should be! We are all pretty much settled in our new house and enjoy the space, peace and quiet. I pretty much know every nook & cranny as I'm quite the explorer.

Most of September was spent in Quebec. We travelled with Baba & Granpa; it was there first time to Quebec. We toured lots but also enjoyed lots of R & R. It was a great time but Mommy & Daddy are done with travelling for awhile... we've done six trips since the end of May!! It's time to enjoy home now as Mommy goes back to work in just a week :( Dad & I are going to have so much fun while Mom's away!

I visited my pediatrician last week and found out I am 20lbs & doing very well. She says I am pretty much doing everything a 12 month old should & is impressed with all I can do! I am slowly making the transition to whole milk from formula which makes Mom & Dad very happy... that's a lot of extra $$$ a month for other things... for me, of course!

I spend most of my time playing, crawling lots, cruising lots, and chasing the cat. Mom bought me a walker so I've been practicing walking in the back yard. I like to flip it over & toss it around, too! I've stood many times on my own, teetering for a few seconds before landing on my nicely diaper-padded bottom! Soon I will walk, soon.
